Dental Fillings

If you have a cavity, it may be hard to tell at first, but the last thing you want to do is wait it out. Fortunately, NÃœVA Smile offers fillings for patients throughout New Jersey and the Northeast.

Don't delay—let us address your painful, decayed tooth with gentle treatment and a dental filling.

What Are Fillings And How Can They Help Me?

Function

A filling covers a tooth treated for decay, protecting it from future decay as well as breakage and infection. Fillings also improve your oral function, making it easier to chew.

Aesthetics

Don't want your dental filling to stand out? We may be able to place a discreet composite filling that blends in easily with your natural enamel.

Relief

Right now, you may be dealing with a good deal of dental discomfort. Our caring dentists can help you find relief with cavity treatment and composite fillings.

What Causes Tooth Decay?

There's a reason why brushing our teeth twice a day is so important: tooth decay. When we leave food on our teeth, plaque can form. This creates a meal for bacteria. They essentially eat away at your enamel, causing decay, or cavities. Bacteria can also lead to plaque formation between your teeth, which irritates your gums and can cause periodontal disease.

Once you have a cavity, there's a great way to treat it: visiting a dentist for a filling. Luckily, our team has offices throughout New Jersey and the Northeast, making it easier for patients like you to find the care they need.

Seeking Timely Treatment Can Help You Avoid Advanced Procedures

A filling helps protect your tooth after we've treated your cavity. If allowed to advance, though, your worsening decay may need to be addressed with:

Root Canal Therapy

Decay can sometimes infiltrate a damaged and decayed tooth, leading to an infected root canal. The only solution for that condition is root canal therapy, which is often followed up by crown placement.

Dental Crowns

When cavities worsen, they can actually compromise the structure of your tooth. You may need a dental crown, or tooth-colored cap, to fortify your tooth after the decay is removed.

Tooth Extraction

After extraction, you'll require a traditional bridge or an implant-supported crown to replace the tooth. Both are more costly and involved dental options than a simple composite filling.

Find the Care You Need With NÃœVA Smile

In pain? Need to replace an old metal filling? Having trouble chewing? The best thing that you can do for yourself is to seek composite resin or amalgam fillings for your potential tooth decay. Luckily, a solution is in reach. Message the New Jersey-area NÃœVA Smile dental office closest to you to begin.

Worried About Cost? Fillings Are Covered by Insurance

Treating cavities early with fillings prevents further pain and damage. This treatment is also more affordable than crowns or extractions, which can be necessary if tooth decay advances beyond a cavity.

As a result, dental insurance plans will likely assist with a portion of your composite filling costs. Our team accepts a variety of popular New Jersey providers, and we can even bill your medical insurance too. You're always welcome to ask if we take your plan ahead of time.

Which Types of Fillings Might Be Used For My Tooth?

When you visit your local New Jersey NÃœVA Smile office, we can replace metal fillings. Our dentists can also place different types of fillings such as

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Want a filling that blends in? This type is made from a discreet, tooth-colored composite resin.

Silver Amalgam Fillings

Placed by dentists for decades, these fillings are made from an amalgam of different metals. They will be silver in color.

Our Approach to Fillings

We don't just place fillings; we also treat your tooth decay at the source.
We don't just place fillings; we also treat your tooth decay at the source.

Dental Consultation

First, you'll visit your local New Jersey or Northeast NÃœVA Smile office. We'll welcome you inside and listen to your symptoms. Then, we can examine your mouth using advanced technology like our digital or panoramic scanners.

Local Anesthetic

We aim to make treatment for tooth decay as comfortable as possible. Before your care officially begins, we will apply local anesthetic. Afterwards, the most discomfort you will feel will be a tiny bit of pressure.

Cavity Treatment

If you have a cavity, we will treat your tooth. This involves removing the decay from your enamel.

Tooth Preparation

Your dentist may also need to prepare your tooth for a silver amalgam filling or composite resin filling. If so, they will carefully shave away a small amount of enamel, potentially with a safe WaterLaseâ„¢ laser.

Filling Placement

Once the decay has been entirely removed, we'll place your filling. This involves applying prepared composite resin in batches or or putting a soft formulation of amalgam material over your tooth.

Curing the Filling

Your dentist will cure your composite resin filling using an ultraviolet (UV) light throughout the process. If you opt for amalgam filling, it will typically solidify on its own as we supervise.

Final Touches

Lastly, your dentist will clean up your tooth. They'll also make sure the filling is properly and comfortably in place. Then, you can leave our New Jersey office and enjoy a healthy new smile.
